Project Silver Box Recorder

Conclusion

Actually this project is not original. I have seen several similar projects, but most of them were either too big or contained non standard parts, such as slim CD-ROM drives, notebook HDDs, small power supplies etc. But I aimed to build a small PC of the standard components that I already had.

In conclusion it would be better to find small LCD monitor, but it is impossible here for reasonable price.

Chip Modding - Russian Edition

But anyway, this PC won second place award among 40 projects on modding competition, organized by Chip Magazine, Russian Edition. The competition took place in October 2003. The conclusion of the editors was: "The most compact and stylish". The results of the competition were published in the magazine.

I was really pleased.

I was even more glad to get Sony DVD-Recorder (Sony DRU-510A) as a prize (award) from the magazine.

My Award

Now we can record CDs, DVD-R(W) and DVD+R(W) at home!
