Tillmouth Park Hotel

Actually we avoid obvious (open) advertising at our web-site, but this place worth to be mentioned. This hotel is located on very border with Scotland near Berwick Upon Tweed town. We spent there four unforgettable days in atmosphere of old suburban Scotland.

Tillmouth Park Hotel

Hotel occupies secluded four-storey country mansion (built in 1882) located in 20 minutes from the town by car.

Tillmouth Park Hotel

The mansion stands in the park, remote from the roads and any other objects of civilization. The hotel contains only fourteen rooms, but it also has a nice cozy bar, not less cozy cafeteria and chick award-winning restaurant. Besides, there are several rooms to have rest, for reading and private conversations. Separate room is occupied by the pool table. Any (public or private) room makes extremely pleasant impression, amplified by numerous acting fire-places.

The Living Room

One sweet detail: any room for visitors has its own name, for example, me and Dasha lived in “Easter”, Kim and Larry occupied “Yellow Room”. There is also “Sir Walter Scott Room” (though he did not ever live there) and some others. All bedrooms are spacious, with high ceilings and equipped with antique furniture.

View From The Last Floor

We were so lucky to get the room on the last floor. View from our window was fantastically amazing. We did not catch any fog in London, but here we have got it a lot. It was foggy every day, and for us it was a pleasant variety, because in London all the days were sunny, and we were afraid not to see “the real English weather”.

In front of the hotel building there is a glade (meadow) suitable for helicopter landing. A field for playing cricket and all necessary tools for it are from the other side of the hotel.

The Hotel Bar

The hotel is a nice place for fishing (salmon, trout) and hunting grouses. There is a collection of pictures of fishermen and hunters with their catch/prey in the bar. Sizes of some of the fishes are really impressive.

I would like to mention a restaurant specially. Restaurant specialization is traditional English cuisine.

The Hotel Restaurant

We enjoyed the service and meal very much. We certainly recommend to have a dinner there (starts at 8pm) — every dish is a work of art!

This place can not be compared to any other places we ever stayed. Amazing!
