Silja Line Ferry
Actually the ferry is one of the brightest impressions of the trip. We went from Turku (Finland) to Stockholm (Sweden)
and back by ferry of Silja Line company. Trip by ferry takes whole night.
On our way back from Sweden right by entrance we were met by Mummytroll — the hero of a fairy-tale by
Finnish writer Tove Yansson. Dasha likes these stories very much and she did not miss the opportunity to take picture
with "the real" Mummytroll.
Right after sailing off (departure) we had nice (and abundant) dinner in one of several restaurants on the ship. We
had the Swedish Table. It is the best opportunity to try lots of interesting and tasty food (for reasonable fixed price).
We did not took pictures there, but you should believe that several kinds of fish, tree types of caviar and other
delicatessen (delicacy) were amasing...
Of course after such dinner we even did not think of sleeping. So we went to explore the vessel. It has twelve decks
and almost all of them have something to look at.
For example: the funny clock on the picture below. It has two hour-hands marked with Finnish and Swedish flags. It is
because the difference in time zones between Finland and Sweden is one hour. So it shows Finnish and Swedish time
simultaneously!
Dasha liked the stores on the ferry. There is lots of them there. All the stores are tax-free, so they have the lowest
prices for Finland and Sweden.
But most of all we enjoyed the VIP deck. It is the last (11-th) deck, so you can enjoy the best view from there. There
is even a small telescope there, but it was late night and it was impossible to see something but other ships.
The VIP deck also impresses with soft furniture and artworks on the walls.
There is London-style phone box with international phone inside. But mobile phones also work on the ferry.
There are several dancings on the ferry, swimming pool and even sauna (sauna is on our deck).
This is my second trip from Finland to Sweden. First time I traveled the same route with my dad. It was my first
time abroad and first time on such a big ship. I was impressed a lot. That time we traveled on Silja Symphony ferry —
the most chic (splendid) ship of Silja family.
