First time we saw it during overview city tour. It impressed us so
much that we came back there one more time later. |

District
La Defénse located on the West of Paris occupies area of 200
acres (80 hectares). It is a district of skyscrapers. In modern
buildings of austere style offices of the largest French and foreign
corporations are located. Numerous works of modern art turned the
square between skyscrapers into museum in the open air.
One of the sights of La Defénse is The Grand Arch, standing
at the beginning of the street that is a prolongation of Avenue
Des Champs Elysees.
From the top of this Arch you can enjoy the exciting view of Paris.
That strange construction, looking like a sail under the Arch is
designated to decrees wind. Lots of exhibitions take place there.
Jean Michel Jarre used Grand Arch in his shows. The Arch is so high
that Notre-Dame Cathedral could be placed under it!
Standing in the middle of the main street of this district, you
can see The Grand Arch at one end and Arc de Triomphe at the opposite
end.
